Important Points
Fard vs Sunnah
The four obligatory acts are washing the face, arms, wiping the head, and washing feet. The rest are Sunnah — they earn extra reward but are not strictly required for validity.
What Breaks Wudu
Natural bodily discharges (urine, stool, gas), deep sleep, loss of consciousness, and touching private parts directly. You must perform fresh Wudu before praying again.
Conserve Water
The Prophet (PBUH) performed Wudu with approximately one mudd of water (about 700ml). Islam teaches conservation even in acts of worship.
Wiping Over Socks
Masah over leather socks (khuffain) is permissible for residents for 24 hours and travelers for 72 hours, provided Wudu was intact when the socks were put on.

The Significance of Wudu in Islam
Wudu (ablution) is the Islamic practice of ritual purification before prayer and other acts of worship. Allah commands in the Quran: “O you who believe! When you intend to offer prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, wipe your heads, and wash your feet up to the ankles.”(Surah Al-Ma'idah, 5:6).
Wudu is not merely physical cleansing — it is spiritual preparation. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “When a Muslim performs Wudu and washes his face, every sin committed with his eyes is washed away with the water. When he washes his hands, every sin his hands committed is washed away. When he washes his feet, every sin towards which his feet walked is washed away.” (Sahih Muslim).
The Artificial Mufti Wudu guide provides clear, step-by-step instructions for both new Muslims and those refreshing their knowledge. Each step is explained with its obligatory and recommended components, ensuring your Wudu is both valid and complete. The guide also covers common mistakes, what invalidates Wudu, and special cases like wiping over socks.
